Laurel E. Dein spoke at Olympus Tax on Portability -Painful Lessons Learned, Best Practices. The “portability election” refers to the right of a surviving spouse to claim the unused portion of the federal estate tax exemption of their deceased spouse

and add it to the balance of their own exemption.

Laurel E. Dein is an attorney in Trainor Fairbrook’s Trusts and Estates Department. Her practice focuses on estate and tax planning. Ms. Dein assists individuals and their families with all aspects of estate planning, including the preparation and implementation of foundational and sophisticated trusts, wills, powers of attorney, health care documents, irrevocable trusts, as well as trust and probate administration. She has experience counseling and representing trustees, executors, beneficiaries and other fiduciaries with trust and estate administration matters. Ms. Dein has successfully represented clients in court proceedings, including probate disputes, trust and will contests, elder abuse claims and fiduciary abuse allegations. Laurel’s experience gives her the proper sensitivity to successfully administer estate plans and handle unique family dynamics.
